Medic looking for expeditions

My name is James Johnson, and I am a third year medical student studying in the UK. Having grown up in the southwest of the region, I have spent my entire life in the outdoors.

I am a proficient outdoorsman; physically fit, well versed in multiple terrains, and competent in multiple scenarios and environments. Previous experience includes hiking experience across much of the UK’s mountain ranges, as well as expedition hikes in Madeira and mainland Europe. I am a qualified PADI Rescue Diver, and have worked as an RLSS lifeguard since sixteen. My in-water emergency skills and on-land emergency first aid skills are some of my strongest assets, and I am not phased by difficult scenarios. I am a keen surfer so feel natural in the sea, and love to explore the north coast of Cornwall because of this.

Being a medical student means I have only deepened my knowledge of emergency medicine and practical, hands on procedures such as a plethora of physical examinations, suturing, and cannulation along with other needle-work skills. I have successfully managed multiple teams; from acting as the president of my university medical society for over 500 students, to being a group leader across Madeira, I feel as if I have excellent people-managing skills which are ever developing.

As much as offering a helping hand and competent medical knowledge across a range of expeditions and scenarios, I am forever looking to develop my skillsets as a wilderness medic and outdoor leader. I would be grateful to be asked or invited to join individuals or teams in their treks across the globe, in order to learn more mountaineering, climbing, and water skills, in all environments.
