Answer the Call of the Amazon: Commencing Early May 2026

Do you possess an unyielding spirit of adventure, a fierce dedication to our planets wild soul, and a burning desire to witness firsthand the urgent story unfolding within the Amazon rainforest? We invite 3-4 motivated individuals to join a transformative, non-commercial expedition into the very heart of this vital ecosystem, a journey to illuminate the critical challenges facing its breathtaking biodiversity and the ancestral guardians who call it home.

Our ambitious route will trace a significant and challenging path along the mighty Amazon River, the undisputed king of Earths waterways. We aim to begin our expedition at the geographically considered start of the Amazon River, the confluence of the Marañón River and the Ucayali River in Peru. From this pivotal point, where two powerful waterways converge to form the main trunk, we will follow the river's dramatic transformation as it swells inpower and breadth, eventually concluding our primary river journey in Brazil, having traversed an estimated 4000 miles through a tapestry of unparalleled natural wonder and pressing human impact. Along the way, we anticipate navigating sections bordering Colombia, gaining a crucial multi-national perspective on the intricate web of life and the political currentsshaping its destiny.

This is more than an adventure; its an immersion into a world teetering on the brink. We will document the heart-wrenching scars of deforestation, stand in solidarity with indigenous communities fighting to protect their sacred lands, and unravel the complex political forces that hold the Amazons future in their grasp. his journey demands resilience, cultural sensitivity, and an unwavering commitment to bearing witness to stories that must be told.

Crucially, all selected team members must also be willing to commit to several pre-departure training meet-ups. The locations for these meetings will vary, accommodating the team organizer's travel between the UK and Ireland. The frequency and locations of these training sessions will be determined collaboratively, but a commitment to attending these sessions is essential for team cohesion, skill development, and safety preparation. Shared Responsibility for Expenses (and Sponsorship Efforts):

As a non-commercial endeavor, the costs of this expedition will be shared amongst all participating members. The estimated individual cost ranges provided above. These estimates encompass personal gear, travel to/from expedition start/end points, visas and permits, vaccinations and medical preparations. and comprehensive travel and medical insurance (including evacuation), and a contribution towards shared in-country logistics (food, basic remote accommodation, necessary local transportation, and potential local guides). Some training will be paid for by the organizer such as jungle survival courses and field first aid. As the organizer, I will be personally investing a significant amount of my own funds in procuring essential shared equipment and supplies crucial for the expedition's success and safety.

Furthermore, I am actively seeking sponsorships and grants to help alleviate the overall financial burden on the team members. Any successful sponsorships secured will be directly used to reduce the shared logistical costs, thereby potentially lowering the individual financial contribution required from each participant. Transparency regarding sponsorship efforts and the allocation of funds will be maintained throughout the planning process. However, while we are committed to minimizing costs, each member should be prepared to contribute their share towards the expedition’s essential expenses.
