Embark on an epic journey deep into the heart of Costa Rica’s untamed wilderness with
explorer Colonel John Blashford-Snell. From 20 November to 10 December 2025, the Osa
Peninsula Expedition offers a rare chance to join a dynamic team on a mission that fuses
humanitarian service, ecological restoration, and unforgettable adventure. This once-in-a-
lifetime opportunity includes hands-on involvement in equipping a much-needed rural
medical centre, supporting vital turtle conservation work, and taking part in a major beach
clean-up along one of the planet’s most stunning coastlines.
One of the expedition’s central goals is to help refurbish the Manzano Bridge, a vital crossing
in the heart of Corcovado National Park, first built by an earlier expedition and now being
renewed using innovative materials crafted from recycled plastic.
Along the way, you'll work alongside indigenous communities, learn their traditions, and
explore a region hailed as one of the most biodiverse places on Earth. From trekking through
remote rainforests to celebrating at the bridge’s reopening fiesta, this experience will be
nothing short of transformational. Nights spent camping in the wild or relaxing at the
exquisite Luna Lodge, optional birdwatching, and hiking, and even a traditional Burns
Supper in the jungle round off this unparalleled blend of adventure, culture, and purpose.
The team is seeking a self-funded dentist and other team members to help the indigenous
people. Those interested should contact John Blashford-Snell, jbs@ses-explore.org or
