The Amur River From Source to Sea

CommunityBelinda KirkComment

In the summer of 2013 I will be attempting a source-to-sea descent of the Amur River, known in China as the Heilongjiang (Black Dragon).

From its possible source in the Greater Khingan Range in Northeast China all the way to its exit into the Tartar Strait in Russia, the river presents an incredible attempt for adventure. The adventure is not merely in paddling my kayak. This area is not often visited by foreigners, and there are many logistical issues which come with kayaking the border, obtaining food and filming the whole adventure.

Perhaps most of all, I look forward to the opportunity to meet the few hardy people who call this river their home.
