Hello, I’m Amy, I’m 25 and I’m looking for five crew members to join me in taking part in the GB Row Challenge 2027 as a mixed crew, hopefully setting off around June/July 2027.
The GB Row Challenge is a 2,000+ nautical mile circumnavigation of Great Britain, starting and finishing in London. It’s a non-stop endurance challenge taking crews around the coastline of Britain, which could potentially take up to 50 days.
The challenge supports scientific research into the health of our seas and coastal environment. Crews collect valuable environmental data throughout the journey, contributing to research into things such as marine biodiversity, microplastics, water quality, temperature, salinity and underwater noise.
I’m a pilot gig rower and have been rowing competitively, including taking part in the Isles of Scilly World Pilot Gig Championships. I’m keen to take my rowing to the next level and thought there was no better way to do that than attempting to row around Britain while contributing to a worthwhile cause.
I’m now looking to put together a crew of six people (including myself) who are genuinely excited about taking on a pretty big adventure. I’m particularly interested in finding someone who would be keen to skipper the boat, ideally with some sailing, navigation or offshore experience.
Most importantly, I’m looking for easy-going, bubbly like-minded people who enjoy the outdoors, are up for a challenge and like to have a laugh. We’ll be spending a lot of time together in a small space, so getting on as a crew is just as important to me as rowing ability.
I’m looking for people who are:
Keen to train and commit to the challenge
Comfortable being out at sea and dealing with changing conditions
Team players who can work well with others
Positive when things don’t go to plan
Interested in the research and environmental side of the challenge
Outdoorsy, adventurous and up for trying something different
Easy-going and, most importantly, fun to be around
The aim is to build a crew that can train hard, work together, contribute to the research, look after each other and have a good laugh along the way.
