Self Supported Circumnavigation of Lanzarote by Kayak

Join a TeamBelinda Kirk

Hey everyone,

I am planning to complete a self-supported circumnavigation of Lanzarote by kayak during this coming October 2026, precise dates yet to be determined.

I’ve calculated roughly a bit less than 170km of paddling in order to complete the circumnavigation, and the goal would be to have a paddling rhythm of around 35km per day, plus one 45km day due to the geography of one coastal stretch (La Santa to Playa Blanca). So, counting a couple of extra days of margin to account for potential bad weather and sea conditions that would make progress impossible, the whole expedition would take between 5 and 8 days.

I plan to bivouac on the beaches and carry all the necessary food aboard, while buying drinking water along the way.

People interested should be fit enough to sustain the aforementioned 35km paddling rhythm a day (plus the 45km day), be comfortable paddling in strong wind and moderately rough ocean conditions, and ideally have some self-rescue skills. A good sense of humor is also highly appreciated.

Besides that, only enthusiasm and a positive mindset are needed :)

I found a place in Lanzarote where we can rent the whole kayak + equipment for 30€/day, and the idea would be for each individual to cover their own expenses (flight + kayak + food, etc..).

If anyone is interested, please don’t hesitate to contact me — I’ll be happy to share further logistical details and discuss any questions you may have.
