Photographer Needed to Support Veterans
Following the success of the ‘Siberia Challenge’ in which 3 injured ex-soldiers joined us on a life-changing 12,000 mile overland vehicle expedition to far eastern Russia, Max Adventure have launched the Driven to Extremes charity (application number 5098759) to help more of our veterans that are suffering from PTSD.
Where as some activities such as Polar trekking can allow too much thinking time, vehicle expeditions can cross continents in a matter of days. The intense exposure to rapidly changing landscapes, climates and cultures bombards the participants with new and exciting experiences, helping push horrific memories to the back of their minds.
Under the strapline of 'Feel Low...Drive High' we will be taking 4 veterans on our first adventure next month (17 - 28 May) to the most extreme northerly point of the UK - Skaw, Shetland. Our route will take us from Glencoe via the North Coast 500 (voted one of the top 5 coastal driving routes in the world) before crossing to the Orkneys and Shetland Isles. It will be a mixture of stunning scenery, military history and ancient archeology all wrapped up in large helpings of Scottish hospitality.
We are seeking support from a volunteer photographer to document the journey of the 4 military veterans that will be joining us. Any photos will be primarily used to promote this event that is planned as a charity fund-raising rally from 2018 - veterans who take part this year will lead and support it themselves next year.
We have the support of renowned figures such as Sir Ranulph Fiennes and corporate backing from the likes of Nissan, BFGoodrich Tyres and Craghoppers. Unfortunately, being a new charity we don't have any funds, so any support crew are currently paying their own food and accommodation costs.
I appreciate that it's a big ask, but if you find yourself at a lose end during those dates and fancy helping a fledgling charity support military veterans suffering from PTSD it would be great to hear from you.
If unavailable yourself, please spread the word to fellow photography professionals.
Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.
