Explore the Lofoten Islands while sailing on a new 47ft yacht - 15 days - Last Berth available.
Our fortnight-long sailing and photography expedition to the Norwegian Arctic islands of Lofoten isa rare chance to photograph wild coastal locations which are inaccessible to others. To us, sailing rather than driving is the most logical way to fully experience these stunning islands.This small-group expedition (with a maximum of six participants) will use a very comfortable 47ft(14m) yacht built in 2012.The group will be guided by the Arctic photographer Vlad Donkov and ours seasoned skipper.The adventure starts in Svolvaer and follows the coastline of the awe-inspiring mountainous islands, wild fjords and passages.Sailing presents us with plenty of opportunities to take photographs from unusual viewpoints and to reach locations only accessible by sea. In addition to the yacht, we will use an inflatable boat with an outboard engine.
This will enable us to land at wild beaches and explore our surroundings on foot. There will be very good chances of observing orca and minke whales, as well as dolphins and seals. White-tailed eagles hunting for puffins and fish will also frequently keep us company. You will benefit from the knowledge and experience of Arctic photographer Vlad Donkov. Since 2008, Vlad has spent a total of more than a year on these islands, visiting them in all seasons.Those of you who know about sailing (or want to learn a thing or two) will have the fantastic opportunity to assist the skipper.This sailing adventure is suitable for people without any previous sailing experience(thanks to having two skippers on board). However, participants should be adventurous by nature and ready to endure long days.
This expedition is about chasing great light and experiencing places that most people never get to see. Strong interest in photography is an asset, although it is not a must - last year we had EC members participating without taking more than 50 images for the entire two weeks and shortly after the sailing expedition they signed up for some of our other expeditions.
