I have been recreating the journeys of the early female explorers and have just returned from retracing the footsteps of Isabella Bird in Indian Tibet.Re-tracing Kate Marsden will be my fifth and possibly the most challenging expedition (www.pinkgingerfilms.com).She left Yakutsk for Viliusk on June 22nd 1891 on horseback for the purpose of visiting the lepers living in the forest, unknown even to the Russians. She left with 15 men and thirty horses and a letter from Queen Victoria in her pocket and rode 2,000 miles.Our team will be far smaller, a Land Rover will provide the necessary support but we will have horses and leave on the same day in 2013/14 and we will only attempt part of the journey (500 miles?)Please research Kate Marsden before getting back to me.Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.Jacki Hill-Murphyjacki@pinkgingerfilms.com
