Trek the Great Himalaya Trail (part 1)

CommunityBelinda KirkComment

The Great Himalaya Trail is one of the longest and highest walking trails in the world.

Winding beneath the worlds highest peaks and visiting some of the most remote communities on earth, it passes through lush green valleys, arid high plateaus and incredible landscapes. (from GHT website) Nepals GHT has 10 sections comprising a network of upper and lower routes, with an estimated distance of 1700 km including all ascents and descents.

Due to time constraints I will walk half of the traverse in 2012 and return for the rest in Mar 2013. The trek in 2012 will include Langtang, Annapurna Manaslu area, Upper Dolpo and Rara Lake (far west), ending in Hilsa the Tibetan border. Total duration is 81 days and estimated distance ~900 km.
