Hi I’m Belinda I run Explorers Connect and used to be an explorer - until I had my son.
To be fair, we’ve been doing ok, adventuring together as a family. Adventure hasn’t completely stopped but of course if you’re a parent reading this you’ll know that in many ways adventuring got harder.
We’ve been able to work out some of the obstacles of adventuring with kids but our son misses having friends along. We’ve got some plans with friends and their kids this year in the UK but we want to do more on the continent. I thought finding a likeminded family or two who want to do some group adventuring might be worth a try. Sound like you?
We are planning some long(ish) hikes and cycles (on traffic free cycle routes). We’ve got some rough plans for Spain (Andalusia), Iceland and south of France but we’re open to suggestion too.
We’re pretty good at family camping in the wild now. We’re good at walking long(ish) distances (without constant injections of refined sugar but a bit helps). However we’ve hardly ever been cycling, never been bikepacking but are learning a bit of bike maintenance this month
The more we adventure together we have become less and less bothered about actually achieving our end point and more and more interested in what we as a family get from these adventures. So don’t be put off if you think it will be a slog, it won’t be
