Expedition Leadership Course
Do you want to help people experience the positive impact of adventure? If so, tell us your plans and be in with the chance of winning a place on our Expedition Leadership Course, running 7th - 8th December 2019.
Over the years, we have helped lots of different people do great things within the world of adventure and exploration.
This year, we helped Clare recruit volunteer walk leaders to take a group of female refugees to do the National Three Peaks Challenge. Last year, we helped Jo set up My Great Escape - a charity that supports the recovery of domestic abuse survivors through adventure.
We want to carry on lending our experience and expertise to those who also wish to help others benefit from the positive impact of adventure, and are offering a place on our Expedition Leadership Course to someone who has an idea for how they might do just that.
You could have an idea for taking a friend or relative on a big trip or challenge, or a group of people, or it could be more of a community-initiative. We are open to all ideas!
In order to enter, send us an outline of your plans via the form below, or by email to email@example.com, and Belinda will select the winner based on who she feels most confident will go on to use the skills learned to help others with maximum impact.
Alongside the place on the course, we will also provide ongoing support once the course is over, to help with things like risk assessments or volunteer recruitment. In return for the support we give, we simply ask that you send us an occasional blog with an update on how your plans are coming along - to inspire others as to what’s possible.
The deadline for entries is 31st October 2019, and you can find full terms and conditions for the competition here. If you are successful, you will be notified by 6th November, at which point you will have three days to accept the prize before we offer it to someone else.
Our Expedition Leadership Course is designed to help people to make a life-changing step and to learn the hard and soft skills needed to lead expeditions and get a job in the adventure industry. By the end you'll have gained vital new skills and be more informed about the next steps needed to deliver your own expeditions from start to finish. We're expecting that you'll already have an interest in and be active in the outdoors (either professionally or personally) but no particular experience is necessary, just an open mind and appetite for learning!
The course is designed for:
People who want to lead their own expeditions or overseas fieldwork projects (professionally or personally)
Leaders who have worked in the outdoors (e.g. military or outdoor education) and want to move across into expedition work
People who have participated in an expedition as a team member and are interested in getting to the next stage
Anyone who wants to develop their expedition skills
You can find full details about the course here.
