Running Across Africa
Thursday 4th July 2019, Bristol
Brendan Rendall took up running after a bet in 2006, training in the dark so no-one could see him. Ten years later, in 2016 Brendan became the first person to run the full length of Malawi, 708 miles in 27 days - raising over £35,000 for the ‘Friends of Mulanje Orphans’ (FOMO) charity. Six weeks later he followed this by running John O Groat’s to Lands End 962 miles in 35 days.
Last summer he embarked on another adventure in aid of FOMO - running coast to coast across Africa, from Namibia to Mozambique. On the 8th of September Brendan finally reached the Indian Ocean after spending three months of running, and having covered an epic 4,000km with a small self-supported team, camping along the way.
Come along to hear Brendan’s hilarious tales of trials, tribulations and trainers. This honest talk will also touch on his battle with weight and how running transformed his life from drugs, alcohol and partying to a life of adventure.
