Powering an Adventure Revolution

Adventures with Dogs
Friday 31st May - Sunday 2nd June 2019

Want to take your dog on more adventures but need some tips? How do you train your furry friend to go from short walks to longer distances in the mountains? What do you do if they get injured? Spend the weekend gaining inspiration and insight from Ordnance Survey and Brecon Beacons Ambassador Tracy Purnell. Learn to safely hike, camp and backpack with your dog.

If you’re straining at the leash to go on more adventures together, we can help. We understand it can be ruff to know what kit is available for different adventures, where to go and how to pack. This weekend is designed to give you the skills and confidence to go on more varied, challenging and longer adventures with your dogs more often. Meet other dog-owners, share stories and tips.

The weekend will include hosted camping, guided walks, formal and informal learning and net-walking with other pet owners. Advice will be shared, kit will be reviewed and you will leave with a doggy handout to help you continue with your adventures together.

Tracy Purnell is an avid mountain walker and trail runner with her two dogs Asher and Marley. She is an Ambassador for Ordnance Survey and the Brecon Beacons National Park and writes about responsible challenging adventures with dogs.

Please be aware that there is a level of doggy p-etiquette expected. You will need to keep your dog under control at all times, including when in the company of other dogs. You know your pooch the best, if you think he/she might find it all too much then do consider coming on your own this time.

Arrive any time on Friday evening to our campsite near Dolygaer where we have our own private camping field

We will meet over breakfast to discuss plans for the day dependent on the weather and group preference. Our first guided hike will begin at 9.30am for the day.

Informal advice and assistance will be offered throughout the weekend. Plus there will be some formal learning opportunities inside with kit, information packs and of course, tea & cake!

We will be finished by 3-4pm on Sunday to allow you to travel home

We will be camping in our own field at a well-equipped, dog-friendly campsite with full facilities. We are able to lend some camping kit to those who do not have access to their own

The location is near Dolygaer in Brecon Beacons National Park
