7.30pm: Justine Gosling talks to us about her expedition by foot and bike across Europe

Venue: Prince of Wales 150-151 Drury Ln, London WC2B 5TD

Justine's aim is to engage people in history through her adventures, and last summer left behind her job in the NHS to complete her expedition "Bringing down the Iron Curtain". The expedition was a journey of nearly 6,500 km and took her through 15 countries.  First walking the whole length of Finland camping along the way and the then cycling through Europe and finishing with a swim at the historic end of the Iron Curtain, the Black Sea.

Throughout her journey Justine visited important locations from the period and met people who had lived through this difficult part of Europe's history to hear and share their stories - people who had escaped across the the Berlin wall, founded illegal opposition parties, risked their lives to get deportees back from Siberian Gulags.

She endured vulnerability in Romania being a lone woman, and survived being hit around the back of the head by a lorries wing mirror and being knocked off her bike in Poland.

Justine will be sharing her experience of this journey, the history of the Iron Curtain and the stories from the people who lived through that period of history with us.
